Park boys swimming & diving: Wolfpack tops three teams at conference relays

The Park boys swimming and diving team made some waves in their first meet of the year last week.
The Wolfpack opened their season with a seventh-place finish out of 10 teams at the annual Suburban East Conference Relays meet, held Thursday, Dec. 6 at Stillwater Junior High School.
Park scored 42 points in the meet, where each event is ran as a relay – ahead of Cretin-Derham Hall (42 points), Roseville (24 points) and White Bear Lake (22 points). Stillwater won the meet with 120 points, just ahead of Mounds View, which placed second with 112 points. East Ridge placed third with 98 points, followed by Hastings in fourth with 88 points. Woodbury was fifth with 68 points and Forest Lake was sixth with 56 points.
Park’s team of Matt Henry, Jarret Mansergh, Michele Pau and Adam Raymond earned fourth place in the 850-yard crescendo relay with a time of 8 minutes, 28.80 seconds. Mounds View (7:57.66) won the event. The same foursome took fifth place in the 400-yard individual medley relay with a time of 4:10.43. Hastings (4:01.11) was first. Henry, Mansergh, Pau and Raymond also teamed up to take sixth in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:29.81. Mounds View (3:21.93) took first. In the 200-yard backstroke relay, Park’s Nicholas Popowitz, Mack Christianson, Eric Solem and Aaron Lewis placed seventh with a time of 2:07.12. Stillwater won the event with a time of 1:45.49. In addition, Park was sixth in diving with 148.70 points. Stillwater won the diving competition with 178.30 points.
Park’s first dual meet will be Thursday, Dec. 13 at home against Cretin-Derham Hall. The meet will be at 6 p.m. at Cottage Grove Middle School.
