A Thursday memorial is planned for a former Park High School student who was killed Saturday in a crash involving a car and semi-truck about eight miles east of Prescott.
Matthew D. Amos, 22, of Cottage Grove, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
A passenger in Amos’ car, Nancy Valois Graves, 22, of St. Paul, was airlifted from the scene to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. She was in critical condition Tuesday, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, Amos was northbound on County Road E at about 6:20 p.m. when he failed to stop at the intersection of Hwy. 10. His car ran under the back axle of an eastbound semi-truck trailer.
The car came to rest in the northeast ditch, about 100 yards east of County Road E. Authorities said the truck was operated by James M. Morgans, 41, of Tomah, Wis. He was not injured.
Traffic was detoured for several hours during the emergency response and investigation.
Amos went to Park High School and played Wolfpack football as a senior.
A memorial was planned for him from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Kok Funeral Home in Cottage Grove.
