A Cottage Grove man was killed Saturday in a crash involving a car and semi-truck about eight miles east of Prescott.
Matthew D. Amos, 22, of Cottage Grove, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
A passenger in Amos' car, Nancy Valois Graves, 22, of St. Paul, was airlifted from the scene to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Her condition wasn't immediately available.
A news release issued by the Pierce County Sheriff's Department stated that Amos was northbound on County Road E at about 6:20 p.m. when he failed to stop at the intersection of Hwy. 10. His car ran under the back axle of an eastbound semi-truck trailer.
The car came to rest in the northeast ditch, about 100 yards east of County Road E.
Authorities said the truck was operated by James M. Morgans, 41, of Tomah, Wis. He was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
Traffic was detoured onto 950th Street and 570th Avenue before sending vehicles back onto Hwy. 10.
The road was reopened about 12:20 a.m. Sunday, according to the Patrol.
