Cottage Grove police reports for Nov. 29: Drugs, suspicious activity, voter fraud, burglary

Drugs

A 15-year-old Cottage Grove male was issued a juvenile petition for felony possession of marijuana and fleeing an officer on foot following a domestic incident Nov. 6 at a home in the 8300 block of Foothill Road.

A 16-year-old Grey Cloud Island Township male was cited for possessing drug paraphernalia at Park High School on Nov. 7.

A 15-year-old St. Paul Park female faced a fifth-degree controlled substance charge after she was found smoking marijuana in a bathroom at Park High School on Nov. 12. Police also found pills in her backpack, according to the report.

A 16-year-old Cottage Grove male was cited for possessing drug paraphernalia after police found him in possession of a marijuana pipe and a baggie containing a very small amount of marijuana while he was at Park High School on Nov. 14. The incident started when a staff member noticed the smell of marijuana near a group of students.

Voter fraud

A Cottage Grove man told police Nov. 6 that someone had committed voter fraud by signing his name at a polling place, making it impossible for him to vote. The incident was being investigated.

Trespassing

Police on Nov. 7 cited a homeless man for trespassing after he was found in an abandoned church building in the 8600 block of 90th Street.

Suspicious activity

A Cottage Grove woman living in the 8300 block of 81st Street Lane reported Nov. 14 that her daughter heard an unknown person attempting to open the front door of the home around 5 p.m. the previous evening. The home was locked and no entry was made. No suspect was located.

Theft

Police were called Nov. 14 after someone reported that letters were removed from a sign at the entrance to the Mississippi Dunes Estates development at 97th Street and Hadley Avenue. The caller reported that letters had been removed in the past as well.

Burglary

A resident in the 6000 block of Hadley Avenue reported Nov. 17 that someone may have attempted to break into the home. A basement window was broken and there were muddy smudge marks on the wall leading to the egress window. There was a pry mark on the window frame. Police dusted the surfaces to check for finger prints, but did not get anything. Nothing was reported missing from the home.
