Cottage Grove police reports for Nov. 27: Vandalism, sexual assault, property damage, vehicle tampering

A collection of recent criminal reports in Cottage Grove.

Vandalism

Police were called to the 9800 block of Heath Avenue Oct. 28 for reported vandalism. There was graffiti on a fence. Damage was estimated at $25.

Emergency crews were called to Kingston Park on Jensen Avenue Oct. 31 for a reported fire. Some playground equipment was on fire. No suspects.

A Cottage Grove man reported Nov. 13 that someone spray-painted obscene drawings on his vehicle while it was parked in the 8800 block of Ironwood Avenue. Damage was estimated at $200. The man said similar vandalism had occurred previously.

A police officer on patrol found graffiti sprayed on a corner of the former Rush nightclub building at 7359 West Point Douglas Road on Nov. 17.

Vehicle tampering

Police were called to the 8800 block of 80th Street shortly after 3 a.m. Oct. 29 on a report that an unknown person possibly was rummaging through cars. No suspect was located.

Sexual assault

Police were investigating an Oct. 30 report that a 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted at a Cottage Grove home. The alleged incident was not random. No arrests were made as of last week.

Police last week were investigating an Oct. 30 report that a 5-year-old girl was touched inappropriately. It was being handled as a criminal sexual conduct report. No arrests had been made.

Property damage

A Cottage Grove resident reported Nov. 2 that someone smashed seven pumpkins at a home in the 7600 block of 72nd Street.

A Cottage Grove resident reported Nov. 3 that someone threw a pumpkin through the window of a vehicle parked in the 6700 block of Primrose Court.

A Cottage Grove resident told police Nov. 3 that a mailbox was damaged in the 7000 block of Irvin Avenue. Damage: $150.

A Cottage Grove woman reported Nov. 3 that a pumpkin was thrown at her vehicle in the 6600 block of Pine Crest Trail. The front windshield also was broken.

A Cottage Grove resident reported Nov. 3 that someone smashed the rear window and put two dents in a vehicle parked in the 7700 block of Hinton Avenue.

A Cottage Grove resident reported Nov. 4 that a vehicle was damaged while parked in the 8500 block of 75th Street. It appeared someone tried to break into it and then scratched the exterior.

A Cottage Grove resident reported Nov. 7 that a window was broken on a van parked in the 6700 block of Meadow Grass Lane.

Holiday gas station, 8101 Hadley Ave., reported Nov. 7 that the Redbox video machine had been damaged. The damage was estimated at $700.
