Newport police reports for Nov. 20: theft and assault
Recent criminal activity includes theft and assault.
Theft
A Minneapolis man reported Oct. 14 that an unlocked vehicle was entered and two bench grinders valued at $50 were stolen while the vehicle was parked in the 1700 block of Eighth Avenue.
A Red Wing man was cited for misdemeanor theft Oct. 14 after he pumped four gallons of gas at SuperAmerica, 1624 Hastings Ave., and didn’t pay.
SuperAmerica, 1624 Hastings Ave., reported a $52 gas drive-off Oct. 15. The gas station reported a $44 gas drive-off on Oct. 20. Another gas-drive off, worth $32, was reported Nov. 5.
A Newport man reported Oct. 21 that a woman known to him stole his Lincoln Zephyr car from 1700 Hastings Ave. The car was documented as stolen.
A Newport man reported Oct. 21 that someone stole prescription drugs from his unlocked vehicle at SuperAmerica, 1624 Hastings Ave.
A Newport man reported Oct. 29 that he may have interrupted an early morning attempted theft from vehicles parked at his home in the 1800 block of Barry Drive. Some change was missing, but his tools were still in a vehicle.
A Newport man reported Nov. 5 that someone stole tires, a gas can, tools and other items from his garage in the 1500 block of 11th Avenue. The man said he believed the suspect tripped the sensor to the garage to gain access.
Suspicious activity
Police were called Oct. 15 to Fourth Avenue and 12th Street on a report of a juvenile waving a gun around. Officers found the juvenile male, who had a replica pellet gun. The boy’s mother was contacted and wanted it destroyed. No citations issued.
Assault
Police were called Oct. 20 to Red Rock Salon, 374 21st St., on a report of a fight with one person injured. A male victim was found near the pool table area. He was transported by ambulance to an area hospital. The case was active and police did not release further information.
