Cottage Grove police reports for Nov. 19

Recent police calls include theft, assault and suspicious activity.

Theft

Menards, 9000 East Point Douglas Road, reported Oct. 26 that someone stole a laser level valued at $80.

Menards, 9000 East Point Douglas Road, reported a shoplifting incident Oct. 27. Jordan E. Waleski, 21, of Hastings, was arrested and booked into Washington County jail on suspicion of theft involving two bench clamp systems valued at $80. A 57-year-old Hastings man was cited for aiding and abetting theft.

Cub Foods, 8690 East Point Douglas Road, reported a shoplifting incident Oct. 27. A 33-year-old Cottage Grove woman was cited for shoplifting approximately $170 worth of merchandise.

A Cottage Grove resident reported Oct. 29 that a political yard sign was taken from a property in the 7300 block of Lamar Avenue.

Vang X. Yang, 24, of Cottage Grove, was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property and booked into Washington County Jail Oct. 29 after a Cottage Grove police officer on routine patrol checked the license plate of Yang’s vehicle and discovered that the car was reported as stolen. The car had been taken from a rental facility at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and not returned.

A Cottage Grove resident reported Oct. 29 that an iPod valued at $200 and $30 in change were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway in the 7900 block of 80th Street.

A Cottage Grove resident reported Oct. 30 that a political campaign sign was stolen from a yard in the 8800 block of Inman Avenue.

A student at Cottage Grove Middle School, 9775 Indian Blvd., reported Oct. 30 that $20 was taken from a wallet in a locker.

Police were called Oct.31 to an 87th Street residence on a report that someone broke into a foreclosed home and stole copper pipe from throughout the home. No value listed.

Top Ten Wine and Spirits, 8617 East Point Douglas Road, reported Nov. 3 that a $53 bottle of vodka had been stolen.

Police received a report Nov. 8 that an iPad was stolen from a residence in the 7900 block of Isleton Avenue. No further information was available.

Menards, 9000 East Point Douglas Road, reported a shoplifting incident Nov. 8. A 16-year-old Cottage Grove male was referred to the Youth Service Bureau for stealing a $2 drill bit.

A 13-year-old Newport girl was referred to the Youth Service Bureau for theft on Nov. 10 after she stole make-up from Sally Beauty Supply in Cottage Grove.

A 21-year-old St. Paul woman was transported to a Hastings detox facility Nov. 11 after she reportedly stole beer and energy drinks from SuperAmerica, 7162 East Point Douglas Road. Police found the woman under a pine tree at 80th Street and Hardwood Avenue. Budweiser beer cans and Red Bull drink cans were located nearby. She had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.294, nearly four times the legal limit for driving. She was cited for theft.

A Cottage Grove man reported Nov. 12 that someone took a 30-gallon oil barrel from outside his home in the 8000 block of Grafton Avenue. The barrel was a collectible worth $200, he told police.

A Cottage Grove woman reported Nov. 13 that someone may have stolen mail from her mailbox in the 6500 block of Wildflower Drive.

Assault

Israel I. Flores Castillo, 26, of Cottage Grove, was arrested and jailed on suspicion of fifth-degree domestic assault for allegedly grabbing a 57-year-old Cottage Grove woman and shaking her head during a domestic incident Oct. 26 at a home in the 9300 block of 72nd Street. Flores Castillo was booked into the Washington County jail.

Elizabeth A. Ness, 24, Cottage Grove, was arrested and booked into Washington County jail Oct. 28 on suspicion of fifth-degree domestic assault and fifth-degree assault following a domestic incident at a home in the 8600 block of Grenadier Avenue. Ness allegedly bit two adults during a verbal fight.

A 39-year-old Cottage Grove man was cited for fifth-degree domestic assault Oct. 30 after he allegedly struck a 32-year-old Cottage Grove woman on the buttocks, leaving marks, according to police. The incident happened at an Ivywood Avenue home.

A 16-year-old St. Paul Park male was referred to the Youth Service Bureau for fifth-degree assault after he fought with a 15-year-old Cottage Grove male Nov. 6 at Park High School.

Police arrested a Cottage Grove woman following a domestic incident about 2:45 a.m. Nov. 10. Officers were dispatched to a home in the 7600 block of Hinton Avenue, where a 31-year-old man said he was punched twice in the head and scratched by a woman known to him. Subsequently, police arrested Rebekah R. Robinson, 36, on suspicion of fifth-degree domestic assault. She was transported to Washington County Jail.

Suspicious activity

Police were called to the 8400 block of Johansen Avenue on Oct. 27 on a report of suspicious activity. A caller reported seeing two people knock on a door and try to gain access. The suspects looked in a window and then got in a vehicle and left before police arrived.

A motorist called police Nov. 8 to report seeing an elderly man with his pants down standing on the side of the road at Highway 61 and Innovation Road. When police arrived, the man was gone.
