Park girls hockey: Wolfpack beats Rosemount in opener

The Park girls hockey team started the season on the right side of the ledger.
The Wolfpack beat section opponent Rosemount 4-2 in their first game of the 2012-13 season, held Thursday, Nov. 15, at Cottage Grove Ice Arena.
Park (1-0) took a 3-0 lead in the game, but the Irish (0-4) fought back to make it 3-2 heading into the third period. However, Park’s Madison Nelson scored 4 minutes, 48 seconds into the third period to make it 4-2 and the Wolfpack held on for the win.
Park senior Mary Turitto scored the Wolfpack’s first two goals of the season – giving Park a 2-0 lead 6:29 into the second period. Then, Park’s Meg Ackerman made it 3-0 with 5:09 remaining in the second.
Park’s Dani Perry and Alyssa Wickenhouser each notched assists in the win and Park senior goalie Caitlin Tate stopped 34 of 36 shots in the game – her first as the Wolfpack’s No. 1 goalie.
