Park cross country: Wolfpack compete in Suburban East Conference Champrionship meet

The Park cross country team is heading toward the finish line.
Last week, the Wolfpack boys and girls running teams competed in the Suburban East Conference Championship meet, held Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Falcon Ridge Golf Course in Stacy.
In the 10-team meet, where runners earn All-Conference and All-Conference honorable mention awards, the Park girls team earned eighth place with 199 place points and the Park boys finished in 10th place with 270 points. Individual All-Conference awards go to the top 20 overall finishers, with the next 10 being awarded All-Conference honorable mention.
For the Park girls, freshman runner Cameron Anderson led the way, earning All-Conference honorable mention honors by taking 27th place with a time of 15 minutes, 35 seconds. Park sophomore Rebekah Schulte was the second Wolfpack runner across the finish line, taking 39th place with a time of 16:07. Senior Larissa Lurken earned 40th place with a time of 16:08, followed by freshman Taylor Rumpca, who took 46th with a time of 16:19 – just a footstep ahead of senior Brooke Anderson, who was 47th with the same 16:19 time.
The East Ridge girls team won a third consecutive SEC championship, totaling 50 place points, while White Bear Lake junior Bethany Kozak won the 4K race with a time of 13:59.
For the Park boys, junior Evan Bonneson took home All-Conference honorable mention honors, taking 29th place with a time of 17:12. Sophomore Ryan Tolkinen crossed the finish line second for Park, taking 53rd place with a time of 18:02. Senior Cade Fishbaugher (18:26), eighth grader Scott Burazin (18:49) and junior Connor Gabbert (18:52) rounded out the Wolfpack’s top five – taking 62nd, 67th and 68th overall, respectively.
Stillwater won the boys 5K run with 32 points. Stillwater senior Wayde Hall edged Cretin-Derham Hall senior Kevin Docherty by two seconds to take first place.
Next, Park competes in the Section 3AA meet on Thursday, Oct. 25, at Valleywood Golf Course in Apple Valley.
