Cottage Grove police reports for Oct. 17: Theft, assault, property damage, gun threat claim

Theft
Holiday gas station, 8101 Hadley Ave., reported a $40 gas drive-off on Oct. 6. Later that day, the gas station reported a $38 gas drive-off.
A woman in the 8100 block of Ingleside Avenue reported Oct. 6 that a bottle of prescription medication was taken from an unlocked vehicle.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Oct. 8 that tools valued at $50 were stolen from a garage in the 8100 block of East Point Douglas Road.
A Cottage Grove woman reported Oct. 8 that someone stole a laptop valued at $2,500 from her home in the 8800 block of Hadley Avenue. The woman was not sure when it was taken, according to the report.
A Cottage Grove man reported Oct. 9 that $120 was missing from his home in the 8500 block of Jewel Avenue.
A Cottage Grove woman reported Oct. 9 that jewelry was stolen from her home in the 8000 block of Jody Avenue, but she could not provide a dollar amount and was trying to come up with a list of items taken, according to the police report.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Oct. 10 that various tools valued at a combined $2,700 were stolen from an open garage during the day in the 8300 block of Isle Avenue.

Identity theft
A Cottage Grove woman reported Oct. 5 that someone used her name to open a credit account in the Chicago area.
Break-in
A Cottage Grove resident reported Oct. 5 that someone rummaged through a vehicle and the garage at a home in the 8000 block of Hadley Avenue.
Property damage
A Cottage Grove resident reported Oct. 5 that a window was damaged by a BB in the 8600 block of Grospoint Avenue. Damage: $50.
A Cottage Grove man reported Oct. 10 that an unknown vehicle struck his, damaging a mirror, in a Hamlet Park parking lot at 8885 Hamlet Avenue.
Gun allegation
Police investigated a St. Paul Park woman’s claim Oct. 5 that a man pointed a gun at her during an incident in a parking lot in the 7200 block of East Point Douglas Road. Police were unable to substantiate the allegation. The case was closed with no citations issued or criminal charges filed.
Vandalism
A Cottage Grove resident reported Oct. 8 that someone scattered a box of nails at the end of a driveway in the 8400 block of Grenadier Avenue. No damage was done.
A Cottage Grove woman reported Oct. 10 that someone damaged fall decorations outside her home in the 8800 block of Granada Avenue.
Assault
Police are investigating a 19-year-old Cottage Grove woman’s Oct. 8 claim that she was struck by a 59-year-old man at a home in the 8200 block of Innsdale Avenue.
Drug paraphernalia
An 18-year-old Park High School student was cited for possessing drug paraphernalia and for improper use of an ignition device after he lit tissue paper on fire in a bathroom at the school on Oct. 11. While the school resource officer investigated, the student was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the report.
