Cottage Grove police reports for Oct. 10: Theft, fire, property damage, suspicious activity

Theft
A Cottage Grove resident reported Sept. 28 that someone stole two bags of clothing left outside for a veterans group. The items were stolen from a property in the 8800 block of 80th Street, but most items were found nearby.
A Maplewood resident reported Sept. 29 that a backpack containing video game equipment was stolen from Belden Park in the 8100 block of Belden Boulevard.
A construction worker in the 9300 block of 71st Street reported Sept. 30 that seven tubes of caulking valued at $35.
Menards, 9000 East Point Douglas Road, reported a theft on Oct. 1. A 47-year-old Hastings man was cited for shoplifting.
A resident in the 7700 block of 79th Street reported Oct. 1 that a purse was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the driveway. That same day, another resident in the same block reported a purse was stolen from a vehicle. That incident resulted in a loss of $60.
A homeowner reported Oct. 2 that someone stole a purse from an unlocked vehicle in the 8000 block of Hynes Avenue.
A Cottage Grove woman reported Oct. 3 that people were at her residence in the 8100 block of Jeffery Avenue and after they left she learned that her laptop computer was missing. The laptop was not recovered, but a 20-year-old man with no permanent address was arrested for providing a false name to police.
Property damage
A Cottage Grove resident reported Sept. 28 that a window was broken on a vehicle in the 7600 block of Hinton Avenue. Damage: $200.
Police were called Sept. 30 to the former Rush nightclub building at 7359 West Point Douglas Road on a report that graffiti was found on the building. No damage estimate was listed.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Sept. 30 that a window was broken on a screen door at a home in the 7700 block of Hinton Avenue. No damage estimate listed.
A St. Paul Park woman reported Oct. 1 that four tires were damaged on a vehicle parked in the 8100 block of Hemingway Avenue. Damage estimated at $500.
A homeowner reported Oct. 1 that six tires were slashed on three vehicles parked in front of a home in the 9300 block of Hallmark Avenue. Loss: $700.
Assault
A 14-year-old Cottage Grove female was issued a juvenile citation for fifth-degree assault in connection with a Sept. 29 fight in the 7800 block of Hemingway Avenue. The victim was a 13-year-old Cottage Grove female.
Police are investigating a report that a 14-year-old male was assaulted at Timber Crest Trail and Pine Crest Trail on Oct. 2.
Fire
Police and fire crews responded at 6:56 p.m. Sept. 30 to a small vehicle fire in the 7600 block of Homestead Court. The fire was extinguished.
Suspicious activity
A Cottage Grove woman reported Oct. 1 that she had concerns after she found that some family photos that she had uploaded to her Facebook page had been copied to a Bolivia-based Facebook page.
Drug paraphernalia
A Cottage Grove police officer recovered drug paraphernalia found on the side of a Highway 61 entrance ramp at Innovation Road. The item found was a 3-foot glass marijuana water bong.
