Liquor license approved for soon-to-open Famous Dave's in Cottage Grove
Approval last week of the license to sell beer and liquor on-site was the restaurant’s final hurdle at Cottage Grove City Hall.
The Cottage Grove City Council has approved an on-sale liquor license for a soon-to-open Famous Dave’s barbecue restaurant.
Approval last week of the license to sell beer and liquor on-site was the restaurant’s final hurdle at Cottage Grove City Hall. Council members had previously approved site plans and a variance to allow alcohol to be served in the business zoning district along East Point Douglas Road near Jamaica Avenue where the restaurant will reside.
The Minnetonka-based chain barbecue restaurant is set to renovate the former Kentucky Fried Chicken fast-food restaurant at 8479 East Point Douglas Road into a 50- to 60-seat Famous Dave’s BBQ Shack, a smaller, take-out focused restaurant smaller than its full-size versions.
Plans submitted to the city showed the 3,000 square-foot eatery will feature a drive-through lane for take-out order pick-up and an outdoor smoker oven.
City officials have indicated the location could be open by Thanksgiving.
