Cottage Grove police reports for Sept. 13: Burglary, property damage, fight

Recent criminal activity includes property damage, burglary, disorderly conduct and a fight.

Property damage

Police were called Aug. 25 to the 6500 block of Wildflower Lane, where three mailboxes had been damaged by fireworks. Total loss: $150.

St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 7000 Hinton Ave., reported Aug. 26 that a window was broken by rocks. No damage estimate.

A Cottage Grove woman reported Aug. 26 that someone pounded on her door in the 9100 block of Jergen Avenue and then she found that a light fixture was damaged and an American flag was stolen. Damage estimated at $60. The flag was valued at $25.

Kingdom Hall, 7151 Hinton Ave., reported Aug. 28 that five sprinkler heads were damaged on the property.

A Cottage Grove woman reported Aug. 30 that a window was shattered and dents were left on a vehicle parked in the 7000 block of 94th Street.

A Cottage Grove resident reported Sept. 3 that something was thrown through the back window of a vehicle parked in the 9600 block of Layton Avenue, causing an unspecified amount of damage.

A Cottage Grove resident reported Aug. 22 that a mailbox was damaged in the 8400 block of Hilo Trail. Damage: $25.

Burglary

East Suburban Resources, 8619 West Point Douglas Road, reported Aug. 27 that someone damaged doors and storage lockers. Also, neighboring businesses Kiekhoefer Chiropractic reported that it was missing $200 cash.

Metro Dental Care, 7430 80th St., reported Aug. 27 that someone pried open a door to the business and stole $40 in petty cash.

A homeowner in the 6700 block of Pine Crest Trail reported Sept. 1 that miscellaneous tools valued at $400 to $500 were stolen from a garage. There was no sign of forced entry.

Disorderly conduct

A 33-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, both of Cottage Grove, were ticketed for disorderly conduct following a domestic dispute that played out shortly after noon Aug. 27 in the parking lot of Holiday gas station, 8101 Hadley Ave.

Fight

An unidentified man was given a verbal warning after police went to to 80th Street and Hornell Avenue about 6:30 p.m. Sept. 1 after witnessing a group of five people fighting. Alcohol was involved. One man who had been drinking was told to leave; his wife drove him home, according to the report. The other individuals involved returned to a party at a home nearby.
