Cottage Grove police reports for Sept. 11: Theft and suspicious activity
Recent criminal activity includes thefts and suspicious activity.
Theft
A 26-year-old Prescott woman was arrested Aug. 22 after allegedly stealing $191 worth of merchandise from Kohl’s, 7990 Hardwood Ave. She was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting, giving a false name to police and for outstanding warrants.
A Direct TV contractor working Aug. 23 in the 6500 block of 77th Street reported that six satellite TV boxes were missing from his van. They were valued at $875. A woman living in that block later called police to report finding the unopened boxes in bushes outside her home.
An employee of Renewal by Andersen, 9900 Jamaica Ave., reported Aug. 24 that a vehicle parked in the lot had been broken into and $80 in cash was stolen. A radio was damaged. No suspects.
A resident in the 8500 block of Hinton Avenue reported that a license plate was taken from a vehicle at the residence.
Mississippi Dunes, 10351 Grey Cloud Trail, reported Aug. 25 that $1,000 cash was stolen.
G-Will Liquors, 6990 80th St., reported Aug. 25 that two bottles of alcohol were stolen. The suspects got away.
Holiday gas station, 8101 Hadley Ave., reported a $38 gas drive-off on Aug. 26.
SuperAmerica gas station, 7162 East Point Douglas Road, reported Aug. 27 that a male suspect stole a Frisbee disc.
A St. Paul Park female and a Newport female, both age 15, were referred to the Youth Service Bureau for theft after police say they stole clothing from Kohl’s, 7990 Hardwood Ave., on Aug. 28.
A 58-year-old Birchwood, Minn., woman was cited for shoplifting after she stole $83 in merchandise from Cub Foods, 8690 East Point Douglas Road, on Aug. 31.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Sept. 1 that someone stole a GPS device from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 7300 block of Iverson Avenue. Loss: $140.
Marathon gas station, 7033 Jorgensen Lane, reported a $33 gas drive-off Sept. 1.
Kohl’s, 7990 Hardwood Ave., reported a shoplifting incident Sept. 2. A 17-year-old Hastings male was ticketed for shoplifting, possession drug paraphernalia and minor consumption; he stole $62 in merchandise. A 17-year-old Cottage Grove male was cited for shoplifting and possessing drug paraphernalia after he stole $30 in merchandise.
Marathon gas station, 7033 Jorgensen Lane, reported a $49 gas drive-off Sept. 2.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Sept. 5 that a car was stolen from the 8100 block of East Point Douglas Road. The vehicle was located at an impound lot in Minneapolis. No suspects identified.
Las Margarita’s, 7750 Harkness Ave., reported Sept. 6 that a customer left without paying for a $22 meal. No charges have been filed yet.
Holiday gas station, 8101 Hadley Ave., reported a $20 gas drive-off Sept. 7.
Suspicious activity
A woman in the 7800 block of Hearthside Avenue called police Aug. 22 after someone placed a dead animal on her windshield. She thought it was a kitten, but police said it was a mouse or rat.
Police found a vehicle parked in the 8800 block of Upper 89th Street Circle shortly before 9 p.m. Aug. 23. At least two people were inside. An 18-year-old Oakdale man was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia.
A Cottage Grove woman called police on Sept. 2 after she found a bloody handprint on a window of her van parked in the 9200 block of Hale Avenue. A neighbor later told police there was a fight at his house over the weekend and the handprint probably was from someone involved in the fight.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Sept. 3 that an unknown person was rummaging through mailboxes in the 7000 block of Timber Trail Lane. Police could not locate a suspect.
