Attempted copper theft suspected after poles cut on Grey Cloud Island

A St. Paul Park police officer responded to a grass fire about 8:20 p.m. Aug. 21 in the 9100 block of Grey Cloud Island Trail. Cottage Grove firefighters who were called to the scene found downed power lines over the fire, according to a police report.
Fire crews also found a backpack with tools near the fire. Nearby, two power poles had been cut down.
Xcel Energy repaired the power lines.
No arrests were made.
