Cottage Grove police brief: Man arrested after running from cops after stop

A Hawaii man faces criminal charges after trying to run from police after allegedly admitting he had been smoking marijuana.

A Cottage Grove police reserve officer found a man sitting in a suspicious vehicle about 1 a.m. Aug. 22 at Hadley Avenue and 103rd Street. The man said he was smoking marijuana, according to the police report.

Additional officers were called to the scene. The suspect allegedly resisted arrest and ran away. Police later found him at a Cottage Grove home where he was staying.

Police arrested Christian S. Kidd, 20, of Captain Hook, Hawaii, on suspicion of obstructing the legal process, fleeing an officer and underage drinking and driving. He was booked into the Washington County jail.
