St. Paul Park police brief: Man hit by hurled ham in Cottage Grove grocery store

A St. Paul Park girl admitted to police she hurled a frozen ham that hit her mother’s boyfriend on the head during a dispute in a Cottage Grove grocery story, but said she didn’t intend to hit him.

The St. Paul Park man went to police on Aug. 15 to report that his girlfriend’s juvenile daughter threw a frozen ham at him while the three of them were shopping at Cub Foods.

A police report indicated that the man was intoxicated when he filed the report, but in a police interview later the girl admitted throwing the ham in anger. She said the man kept interrupting her conversation with her mother.

Police concluded that it was not an assault.
