Officers were called to the Marathon gas station in the 7000 block of Jorgensen Lane about 9 p.m. Monday on a report of a stolen children’s battery-powered car. While en route an officer found a teenager nearby sitting in a toy car that matched the description in the theft report.

The officer confronted the teen and other juvenile males. A 49-year-old Cottage Grove man who lives nearby in the 9700 block of 78th Street then told police the teens had been playing doorbell ditch at his home and that it had been going on for quite a while.

The report said the man grabbed a 15-year-old Cottage Grove boy and started yelling at him. In the process, the teen was head-butted, according to the police report. The man said they just hit heads.

The man was ticketed for disorderly conduct. Police also cited the 15-year-old male for disorderly conduct for the doorbell prank. Another 15-year-old Cottage Grove male was issued a juvenile ticket for theft of the children’s toy and for disorderly conduct.

A 16-year-old Pine Springs, Minn., male was given a juvenile citation for disorderly conduct.
