Cottage Grove police reports for Aug. 23: property damage, burglary and assault
Recent criminal activity included property damage, burglary and assault.
Property damage
A Cottage Grove resident reported July 27 that a garage door keypad had been torn from the wall. Police checked the home and there was no sign of entry. No damage estimate was listed.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Aug. 1 that a mirror was damaged on a vehicle parked at a home in the 7100 block of Jorgensen Lane.
Police were called Aug. 2 to Wendy’s restaurant, 8639 East Point Douglas Road, after two tires were slashed on a vehicle in the parking lot. Police were searching for possible suspects.
Mississippi Dunes, 10351 Grey Cloud Trail, reported Aug. 7 that someone dug a large hole by the 12th hole and wrote obscenities in a sand trap. A locked gate also was damaged.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Aug. 7 that a mirror was broken on a vehicle parked in the 8500 block of 85th Street. Damage: $100.
Police were called to the 7400 block of Iden Avenue on Aug. 8 after a resident reported that a mailbox had been damaged and thrown down the street.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Aug. 8 that 15 lawn sprinkler heads were damaged at a home in the 7500 block of Hinton Park Avenue. Damage: $350.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Aug. 9 that a window was broken on a vehicle parked in the 8900 block of Janero Avenue. Damage: $500.
A Cottage Grove man reported Aug. 9 that someone entered his yard and sliced the liner on his pool, causing $1,000 damage. Police and the victim were working on a possible suspect.
A Cottage Grove resident reported Aug. 13 that a window was broken on a vehicle parked in the 8500 block of Granada Avenue.
Burglary
A Cottage Grove resident reported July 28 that a motorcycle jacket was stolen from the garage of a residence in the 8100 block of East Point Douglas Road.
A Cottage Grove man reported July 30 that someone entered his home in the 9000 block of 79th Street and stole a cellphone and wallet that were on the kitchen counter. The suspect gained entry through an open window. Loss: $65.
A Cottage Grove resident called police Aug. 13 after finding that someone had broken into a home in the 7900 block of Hemingway Avenue. A video game system valued at $150 was stolen.
Assault
A 17-year-old St. Paul Park male was cited for fifth-degree domestic assault following a dispute with his mother at a home in the 8200 block of Grange Boulevard.
A 22-year-old Cottage Grove man was cited for fifth-degree domestic assault after he allegedly punched a 19-year-old West St. Paul woman and grabbed her throat during an altercation Aug. 13 at a home in the 8800 block of 90th Street.
