Primary election details for south Washington County voters

Most Minnesota polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 14. Residents may register to vote at the polls.

For information on voting in south Washington County, go online to the Minnesota secretary of state's website at www.sos.state.mn.us.

The primary election features several races, but few candidates have mounted noticeable campaigns.

-- U.S. Senate and U.S. House campaigns, one person per party will advance to the Nov. 6 general election. In judicial races, the two candidates receiving the most votes will advance.

Independence: Glen Menze, Stephan Williams

Republican: Kurt Bills, David Carlson, Bob Carney Jr.

Democrat: Dick Franson, Amy Klobuchar (i), Jack Shepard, Darryl Stanton

-- 2nd Congressional District (includes Cottage Grove and part of St. Paul Park)

Republican: David Gerson, John Kline (i)

-- 4th Congressional District (includes Newport and part of St. Paul Park)

Republican: Tony Hernandez, Ron Seiford

Democrat: Diana Longrie, Betty McCollum (i), Brian Stalboereger
