Newport police brief: Man picked up after found ‘walking on his knees’

Police picked up a Newport man who was found walking on his knees down Bailey Road in the middle of the night.

A caller reported a suspicious male in the road at 2 a.m. Friday, July 27. An officer responded to Bailey Road near Interstate 494 and found a man walking on his knees.

The 28-year-old man “said that his wife told him he can come home when his knees are bleeding,” according to the police report.

An officer checked the man’s information and found that he was to be served an order for protection. The order was issued and police dropped off the man at SuperAmerica in Newport to wait for a ride from friends.
