Neighbors across south Washington County gathered on Tuesday to celebrate Night to Unite and National Night Out, neighborhood gatherings intended to foster community dialogue to help fight crime.
Almost 40 Cottage Grove neighborhoods held block parties to mark the event and neighbors in Newport and St. Paul Park gathered for citywide celebrations.
"The more you know everybody, the safer everybody's going to be," said Andy Roeser, who hosted a block party at his family's 61st Street home in the Pinecliff neighborhood. "Plus, it's just fun."
