St. Paul Park police reports for July 20

Recent police activity includes fights, thefts and a snake call.

Fight

Police were called to Franke’s Bar, 304 Broadway Ave., about 2:15 a.m. April 29 for a reported fight between two women. One woman had left the scene, but the other woman was still there. She was extremely intoxicated and had a large bump on her head, according to police who recommended she get medical treatment.

Police were called to Franke’s Bar, 304 Broadway Ave., on May 24 for a reported fight shortly before 1 a.m. Police were told that a vehicle had just left with three occupants who had been in the bar. Two of the men who left had started a fight with a bar patron before fleeing, according to the report.

A bartender at Franke’s Bar, 304 Broadway Ave., flagged down a police officer about 2 a.m. May 29 because of an altercation in the bar. A Cottage Grove man was injured when he was escorted out of the bar by another Cottage Grove man after the two had been arguing. The victim had a facial injury and had passed out on the bar floor. He had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.272, more than three times the legal driving limit. He was transported to Regions Hospital.

Two men were cited for fighting early June 23 at Franke’s Bar, 304 Broadway Ave. A police officer who was performing downtown bar checks around 1:30 a.m. saw a fight in the bar’s outdoor smoking area. A 31-year-old Cottage Grove man and a 34-year-old Cottage Grove man each were cited for disorderly conduct.

Suspicious activity

A St. Paul Park woman called police shortly after midnight June 23 for a suspicious situation. Her outdoor sensor lights had been triggered and her dog barked at something outside. When police arrived the woman said someone had taken sand bags from a nearby construction site and put them at her front door in the 1100 block of Lincoln Avenue. No suspects located.

A Grey Cloud Island Township woman reported June 20 that a man went to her home to inquire if her power was out. He was not from Xcel Energy; he was driving an unmarked car. The man then left.

Theft

A St. Paul Park woman reported June 22 that her and her son’s birth certificates and Social Security cards were stolen from the residence.

A St. Paul woman reported June 22 that $400 cash was stolen from her at a residence in the 900 block of Ninth Avenue.

A St. Paul Park man reported June 22 that he lost $5,000 cash and suspected it was stolen from him at a local bar.

A St. Paul Park woman reported June 20 that someone stole four to five packs of cigarettes from a vehicle parked in the 1400 block of Blossom Lane. Loss: $30.

A St. Paul Park man reported June 20 that someone stole a GPS device and a digital camera ($800 total) from a vehicle parked in the 1100 block of Dayton Avenue.

Ashland Avenue Grocery, 1000 Ashland Ave., reported June 9 that a woman and child stole sunglasses from the store. The store had video of the theft, according to the report.

A St. Paul Park woman reported June 6 that fishing rods and equipment were stolen from a boat parked at a residence in the 1500 block of Dixon Drive.

Snake call

A resident in the 1100 block of Lincoln Court called police June 22 after finding what was believed to be a rattlesnake. Police contacted the Department of Natural Resources. It was a protected fox snake; police took it and released it in a wooded area.
