Cottage Grove police reports for July 19

Assault
A 41-year-old Cottage Grove man was cited for fifth-degree assault after he allegedly punched another man in the face during a June 16 fight at a home in the 7700 block of Hinton Avenue.
Police were called July 4 to a home in the 7400 block of Harkness Avenue on a report of an assault. Two brothers were fighting. There were no witnesses. No charges were filed.
A Cottage Grove woman was arrested after a fight with her sister. Adriane L. Sampson, 29, was arrested on suspicion of fifth-degree domestic assault around 2 a.m. July 5. Police were called to a home in the 6800 block of Pine Crest Trail for a domestic incident. Sampson’s sister lives at the home and the two allegedly started fighting and Sampson reportedly punched her sister in the face.
A man was arrested for alleged domestic assault following an incident at a Cottage Grove home. Police were called to a home in the 7800 block of Hemingway Avenue shortly before 6 p.m. July 5. They arrested Andrew D. Rainey, 28, on suspicion of domestic assault. A woman at the home said she was threatened by Rainey so she locked herself in a bathroom, and he allegedly tried to force his way in.
Two people were cited following an assault at McDonald’s, 7355 East Point Douglas Road. Police were called to the restaurant at 10:45 p.m. July 11. A 15-year-old St. Paul Park boy and a 19-year-old woman made offensive comments to a store manager. Then, outside the restaurant, they got into a confrontation with a man and punched him. Each suspect was cited for fifth-degree assault and disorderly conduct. They were prohibited from returning to the restaurant.
Theft
A Cottage Grove resident reported June 29 that someone entered a garage in the 7900 block of Grafton Avenue by taking a garage door opener from a vehicle in the driveway. Nothing was reported stolen from the garage, but the door opener was missing.
A Cottage Grove woman reported June 29 that she had some friends at her home in the 7800 block of Hearthside Avenue and when she awoke there were items missing from her home. She reported the following items stolen: speakers, $220; portable DVD player; $13 cash and credit cards from a wallet; a cellphone, $399; and jewelry valued at $300. The incident is under investigation.
A Cottage Grove resident reported July 2 that a bike valued at $200 was stolen from outside a residence in the 9100 block of Harkness Avenue.
A St. Paul Park woman reported July 3 that a bottle of prescription medication was stolen from her vehicle while it was parked at Family Dollar Store, 8118 Hadley Ave.
Holiday gas station, 8101 Hadley Ave., reported a $55 gas drive-off on July 4.
A Cottage Grove resident reported to police July 5 that he had agreed to pay $130 for an iPad from someone selling the device on craigslist. They met in a parking lot in the 8400 block of East Point Douglas Road. The seller took the money and left without providing the iPad.
A St. Paul Park woman reported July 6 that her cellphone was stolen while she was at Rainbow Foods, 7282 East Point Douglas Road. Loss: $700.
A Cottage Grove woman reported July 6 that someone spent $2,600 using her credit cards.
Bonngards Family Meats, 7009 Jorgensen Lane, reported July 6 that someone stole a grill from outside the business. A video captured the suspect pulling up to the building, loading the grill into a truck and leaving, but the suspect cannot be identified. Loss: $400.
A Cottage Grove woman reported July 8 that a vehicle parked in the 8100 block of Jasmine Avenue was entered and $5 was stolen.
Two women were ticketed for theft July 8 at Kohl’s, 7990 Hardwood Ave. An 18-year-old Cottage Grove woman was cited after attempting to steal $68 worth of clothing. An 18-year-old Little Falls, Minn., woman was cited after attempting to steal $66 worth of clothing.
Cottage Grove police were called July 9 to 103rd Street and Hadley Avenue for a theft report. Tools and other equipment were stolen from a job site building. Loss: $1,100.
Las Margaritas restaurant, 7750 Harkness Avenue, reported July 10 that three customers left the restaurant without paying a $31 bill.
