Police used a search warrant to get into a home and break up an underage drinking party in Cottage Grove.

Officers were called shortly after midnight June 29 to a home in the 8400 block of Jorgensen Avenue for a complaint of a noise disturbance. When police arrived they found a large party inside, but those inside would not answer the door, according to the report.

Police then drafted a search warrant and it was signed by a judge, allowing access to the home. When cops got inside they found more than a dozen people drinking. In all, 18 people under age 21 from Cottage Grove, Newport, Woodbury, Maplewood, Denmark Township and St. Paul Park were cited for minor consumption.

A St. Paul Park male also was cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana. An 18-year-old woman also was ticketed for possession of small amount of marijuana and obstruction after she tried to run away.

A 19-year-old woman at the home was cited for underage consumption and for violating the city’s social host ordinance, which prohibits someone from knowingly allowing or hosting underage drinking.
