South Washington County-area communities are planning a variety of activities to celebrate the Fourth of July.
Cottage Grove
- When: Activities, sponsored by the Cottage Grove Lions Club, begin at 6 p.m.
- What: Backyard-style games including a bean bag toss, horseshoes, an inflatable jump for kids
Hot dogs, brats and beverages will be available for purchase. The Cottage Grove Fire Department will bring fire trucks for kids to inspect. Members of the Strawberry Fest Royal Family will offer face painting and local businesses will be handing out gift cards and giveaways.
The evening will culminate with a fireworks display at dusk.

Woodbury
- When: Starts at 6 p.m.
- Where: Ojibway Park, 2695 Ojibway Drive
- What: Food sales, live music by my Muse and TyM and InsideOut Band; fireworks display at dusk.
Afton
- When: From 9 a.m. to noon
- Where: St. Croix Trail
South/Afton Town Square Park
- What: Parade (starts at noon), vendors, beer tent, kids games, music and more.
Oakdale
- When: Beginning at 7 p.m.
- Where: Walton Park Band Shell, 15th Street and Hadley Ave.
- What: Live music from the Rockin’ Hollywoods, fireworks begin at dusk
Hastings
- When: 10 p.m
- Where: Hastings Country Club, 2015 Westview Drive
- What: Fireworks display
