Cottage Grove police reports for June 8

Recent Cottage Grove criminal activity included thefts and assaults.

Theft

A 17-year-old Cottage Grove female was issued a juvenile ticket for theft in late May after she allegedly stole $40 cash from a teacher’s purse at Park High School, 8040 80th St.

A Cottage Grove resident reported May 18 that approximately $75 worth of gas was siphoned from two vehicles over two recent weekends at a residence in the 7900 block of 110th Street.

A Cottage Grove woman reported May 19 that a computer was stolen from her vehicle while it was parked at Applebee’s restaurant at 8380 East Point Douglas Road. The doors likely were unlocked, according to the report.

Assault

Police were investigating a reported fight May 18 between two males and a female at Oakwood Park, 7851 Harkness Ave. The report claimed that one man and the female were suspects. An investigation was pending.

A 17-year-old Cottage Grove male was transported to the Washington County jail on suspicion of second-degree assault following a May 18 incident at a home in the 7100 block of Iverson Court. Police were called to the home following a reported fight. The suspect allegedly used a wooden stick to hit a truck and a 16-year-old Prescott male. The victim sustained a welt to his back but did not require hospitalization, according to the report. The suspect also was jailed on suspicion of terroristic threats for allegedly pulling out a knife during the altercation.

A Cottage Grove man was arrested for alleged assault following a May 18 incident. Police were called to a home in the 7800 block of Hearthside Avenue for a reported domestic assault. Subsequently, police arrested Arnoldo R. Guerra, 21, on suspicion of second-degree assault after he allegedly threatened a 39-year-old man with a knife. Guerra was booked into the Washington County jail.
