Cottage Grove police, Lions rally for injured officer's benefit Sunday
The 'We Have Your Back' benefit for Cottage Grove resident and former police reserve officer Frank Mackall is planned for Sunday in Cottage Grove.
The “We Have Your Back” benefit for Cottage Grove resident and former police reserve officer Frank Mackall will take place from 12:30-6 p.m. Sunday, June 3, at the Cottage Grove VFW Red Barn, 9260 East Point Douglas Road, in Cottage Grove.
All are invited to the family oriented barbecue that will feature live music under the tent, a play area for kids and a silent auction. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
Mackall was working as a Savage police officer in early January when his squad left an icy road and struck a tree as he responded to a call. He was severely injured in the crash. Mackall is married with three children.
Mackall served as a volunteer reserve officer with the Cottage Grove Police Department from May of 2006 to March of 2007. Mackall then went to work for a short time in the Woodbury Police Department before being hired in Savage in July of 2008.
