Cottage Grove police reports for May 31

Recent Cottage Grove criminal activity includes fires, drug possession, assault and disorderly conduct.

Fire

Police were called to Kingston Park, 9195 75th Street, on May 7 for a fire in a garbage can and a portable toilet. Damage: $1,300.

Cottage Grove firefighters extinguished a grass fire on May 7 at Grey Cloud Elementary School, 9525 Indian Blvd.

Authorities were called to a home in the 6600 block of Geneva Avenue at about 4:30 p.m. May 17 for a shed fire. A tractor in the shed had started on fire. Cottage Grove firefighters extinguished it.

Drug possession

Police were called to Cottage Grove Middle School, 9775 Indian Blvd., on May 8 for a report of drug and alcohol use. A 14-year-old Cottage Grove male was referred to the Youth Service Bureau’s chemical awareness program. He had a small amount of alcohol and a small amount of marijuana in his backpack.

Assault

Police were called to a home in the 8100 block of Idsen Avenue on May 12 for a domestic incident. Subsequently, a 44-year-old Cottage Grove man was arrested and cited for fifth-degree domestic assault. He allegedly pushed a 36-year-old Cottage Grove woman and ripped her shirt.

Police were called to Applebee’s, 8380 East Point Douglas Road, on May 13 for a report of someone urinating outside the restaurant. Subsequently, police ticketed a 29-year-old St. Louis Park man for fifth-degree assault for allegedly punching another man nearby. There was no citation issued for public urination.

Disorderly conduct

A 29-year-old Cottage Grove man was cited for disorderly conduct after he allegedly made inappropriate comments to a group of juvenile girls on May 13 near the intersection of 85th Street and Grospoint Avenue.
