Cottage Grove police reports for May 18: theft, vandalism, intoxicated students

Recent Cottage Grove criminal activity included intoxicated students, auto theft, vandalism and other property damage.

Intoxicated students

Police were called May 4 to the District 833 Alternative Learning Center, 8400 East Point Douglas Road, for intoxicated students. A 15-year-old Cottage Grove male was cited for minor consumption and possession of alcohol. A 14-year-old Woodbury male was cited for minor consumption.

Vehicle tampering

Police were called to the area of 95th Street and Heath Avenue on May 5 after a man reported seeing a juvenile male attempt to get into his vehicle. No access was gained.

Police were called May 6 to the 8200 block of Grafton Avenue after a homeowner reported someone entered an unlocked vehicle. Nothing was stolen.

Auto theft

Police were called to the 8900 block of Ironwood Avenue on May 5 after a woman reported that her car was stolen the previous night. The vehicle was recovered in Minneapolis after being involved in a hit-and-run accident. No suspects listed.

Vandalism

Police were called May 5 to the 9400 block of Jergen Avenue for a vandalism report. Juveniles had kicked down a fence. Police couldn’t locate the juveniles. Damage: $25.

Property damage

A homeowner in the 7300 of Burr Oak Avenue reported May 6 that a vehicle was damaged. A trailer was rolled or pushed into his vehicle. Strong winds also could have caused it, according to the report.

Police were called May 12 to the 7200 block of Janero Avenue after it was reported that three vehicles had been keyed overnight. No suspects. Police also found two other vehicles nearby that had been keyed.

Police were called May 12 to the 7400 block of Jocelyn Avenue after a homeowner reported that a window was broken and the roof was damaged on a vehicle parked at the residence. No damage estimate listed.
