Cottage Grove police reports for May 17: burglaries, theftsRecent criminal activity includes burglaries, thefts and shoplifting.
Cottage Grove police responded to similar attempted burglary reports earlier this month. A homeowner in the 7400 block of Hidden Valley Trail reported May 3 that someone cut a screen on a screen porch and a radio valued at was stolen. The same day, a homeowner in nearby Hinton Park Avenue reported that someone cut a bathroom screen, but no entry was made.
A homeowner in the 7300 block of Hidden Valley Ridge reported May 6 that his wife heard a loud noise and suspected a break-in. Police could not locate anything suspicious.
Police were called May 16 to a home in the 8600 block of Jenner Lane after a woman saw an unattended bike and a toolbox across the street from her home. The bike was stolen from her garage. A second bike valued at $100 also was taken from her garage but was not located. There was no sign of forced entry.
Holiday gas station, 8101 Hadley Ave., reported a $49 gas drive-off on May 3.
G-Will Liquors, 6990 80th St., reported May 4 that several bottles of alcohol were stolen. Police have suspects.

Police were called to the 8000 block of Grafton Avenue on May 6 after a homeowner reported that $2 was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
Police were called to the 9600 block of Dunes Avenue on May 7 after a woman reported that mail was stolen from her mailbox.
Police were called to Cottage Grove Middle School, 9775 Indian Blvd., on May 9 after a $400 bicycle was reported stolen. No suspects.
A 17-year-old Cottage Grove male was cited for theft May 10 after stealing $20 from a purse at Park High School, 8040 80th St.
Police were called May 10 to a home in the 7900 block of 76th Street on for a theft report. Copper pipe was removed from the basement. Loss: $1500.
Police were called May 11 to a home in the 8300 block of 81st Street Lane after a resident reported that a video game system was stolen. Loss: $300. No forced entry.
River Oaks Golf Course, 11099 West Point Douglas Road, reported May 12 that six ball-washers were stolen from holes on the course. Loss: $1,194.
A homeowner in the 8400 block of Hyde Avenue reported May 12 that a wallet, keys and sports equipment were stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked at the residence. The wallet was recovered on a road in Denmark Township. Loss of sporting equipment: $100.
Police were called May 12 to the 7600 block of Langly Avenue for a theft report. A homeowner reported that a camera, sporting equipment and other items were taken from a vehicle. Loss: $635.
A homeowner in the 8700 block of Imperial Avenue reported May 12 that keys were stolen from a vehicle parked at the residence.

A homeowner in the 6900 block of Innsdale Avenue reported May 13 that yard ornaments were stolen from outside the residence. No value listed.
Gas Plus 7, 7033 Jorgensen Lane, reported a $43 gas drive-off May 14.
A woman reported May 15 that a purse was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked at Rainbow Foods, 7282 East Point Douglas Road. The purse was valued at $50.
A 15-year-old Cottage Grove female and a 16-year-old Cottage Grove female were cited for shoplifting at Cub Foods, 8690 East Point Douglas Road, on May 3. They stole make-up products valued at $36.
Kohls, 7990 Hardwood Avenue, reported a shoplifting incident May 7. A 16-year-old Hastings male was referred to the Youth Service Bureau for theft after stealing a wallet valued at $28.
Menards, 9000 East Point Douglas Road, reported a shoplifting incident May 8. A 64-year-old Hastings man was cited for shoplifting after stealing drill bits and a ratchet set valued at $24.95.
Menards, 9000 East Point Douglas Road, reported May 16 that a 27-year-old St. Paul Park man was cited for theft after he allegedly stole a knife.
