Jacobus has spent two years as assistant superintendent of leadership, teaching and learning for the Osseo Area School District, a west-metro Twin Cities suburban district.

He was director of schools for the Douglas County School District in Castle Rock, Col., and has other school administrative experience in Colorado. It’s also where he earned master’s and doctorate degrees.

Jacobus, a respected authority on brain research, particularly in adolescents, said he’s currently reading “The Other Brain.” When going to a book store, he intends to buy books on other subjects, he said, but usually ends up buying another book about the brain.

He reads the “Harvard Business Review” for articles on leadership and several education periodicals. For fun, he’ll read mysteries.

At 54, he enjoys running and lifts weights to stay in good physical condition. He also enjoys bike riding.
