East Ridge’s Allison Berry signed to play basketball for the Mount Marty College Lancers next fall.
Berry, a 5 foot 8 inch wing player from Cottage Grove, earned the titles of leading rebounder, most improved and captain during her East Ridge high school career, averaging 7.9 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
“Allison is going to be a great addition,” Mount Marty College head women’s basketball coach Tom Schlimgen said. “Her ball handling skills and leadership skills are going to contribute to her success at the college level.”
Mount Marty College, located in Yankton, S.D., is a Catholic, Benedictine, coeducational institute of higher learning founded in 1936 by the Benedictine Sisters of Sacred Heart Monastery. The school has an enrollment of over 1,100 students on all three campuses and approximately 600 students located on the Yankton campus.
Off the court, Berry has also found success. During her high school career, she achieved the A Honor Roll and received an Outstanding Student Athlete Award.
“The MMC community is going to see a great addition in Allison as a student-athlete. She’s aligned with the mission and ideals of our college and is an all-around fit,” Schlimgen said.
In addition to her basketball award, Berry has been awarded one of MMC’s prestigious academic scholarships, the Benedictine Scholarship, and a catholic leadership award. The daughter of Lynn Car-Berry and Lynn Berry of Cottage Grove, Berry plans to major in exercise wellness at Mount Marty College.
