A fire early Saturday damaged multiple apartment units at a Newport complex.
Crews from four south Washington County fire departments responded about 6:15 a.m. to a fire at a multi-level apartment building at 112 Mark Court near 10th Avenue.
The complex has 24 units and 20 were rented. The fire was in one of the units, but a number of other units were damaged by smoke and water, said PJ McMahon, Cottage Grove fire marshal.
“Everybody got out,” he said, and there were no reported injuries.
The fire may have started on a patio and then spread to the interior of the apartment unit, McMahon said.
Firefighters from Newport, Cottage Grove and St. Paul Park were dispatched. McMahon said they also had Woodbury send its ladder truck because it was an apartment complex.
