Newport police reports for April 28
Recent reports included assault and an attempted break-in.
Assault
A juvenile male reported to police March 22 that he had been assaulted while walking around 9 p.m. on 10th Avenue near High Street. The alleged victim said a suspect approached him from behind and started assaulting him. Police recommended that the juvenile be checked out by a doctor.
Attempted break-in
A Prescott, Wis., man was questioned by police April 17 after a witness reported that he was trying to break into a Newport massage business at 2146 Hastings Ave. The man said he wanted a massage but couldn’t find anyone even though the “come on in”sign was displayed. The man said he tried to open the door but it was locked. He said he looked through windows but didn’t see anyone, so he went to a gas station to go to the bathroom.
