Cottage Grove council member Olsen holds Saturday listening session

Cottage Grove City Council member Justin Olsen will host a "community conversation" Saturday to talk local issues and receive feedback from constituents.

The event is scheduled to run from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Cottage Grove City Hall on 80th Street. Olsen said he'll provide coffee and donuts.

"My purpose, more than anything, is to provide education" on hot topics facing the city and to get "straightforward feedback" from voters, Olsen said.

He said he hopes the event "encourages respectful discourse."

It's uncommon for local council members to hold an informal town hall-style meeting.

Olsen's council term ends this year.
