Could this be the beginning of the end for the Cottage View Drive-In?

The outdoor theater in Cottage Grove begins its 2012 season tonight. On the big screen: "The Hunger Games," followed by "Wrath of the Titans."

"The Hunger Games" begins at dusk. "Wrath of the Titans" will start around 10:45 p.m.

This 47th season for the drive-in likely could be its last. The theater's owner has secured a purchase agreement with Walmart, which plans to buy the property and build a Supercenter store on the site.

Cottage View is at 9338 East Point Douglas Road, on the east side of Highway 61 north of Keats Avenue. Admission is $8 for adults, $2 for children age 5-12. Children 4 and under get in free.

The drive-in is expected to be open Fridays and Saturdays throughout the summer.
