The Park and Woodbury boys tennis teams take to the court in an intra-district and Suburban East Conference grudge match on Thursday, April 18, at Park High School. The action begins at 3:30 p.m.
Park finished its first week of season play with a .500 record, going 1-1, with a 6-1 victory against Farmington, and a 7-0 loss against rival East Ridge.
No. 1 singles player Mekdim Dejene and second singles junior Jacob Elliott lead the way for Park.
This year’s youthful Woodbury team – comprised of just three seniors and one junior – has shown promise in the early goings.
Week No. 1 saw a loss to Harding, a win against Hastings and a seventh-place showing at an eight team Royal/Raptor tournament.
Woodbury No. 1 singles player Matt Shubert and No. 2 player Ben Sajevic are two players to watch. The team is also led by the No. 1 doubles pairing of Jordon Sevens and Joey Shubert.
