To ensure awareness of the upcoming severe weather season, the state of Minnesota will conduct two tornado drills on Thursday.
The first drill is statewide at 1:45 p.m. to allow schools, businesses, hospitals and other organizations to practice their emergency plans. Several schools throughout District 833 will participate to ensure students and staff are prepared should severe weather occur during the school day. Administration and staff are reviewing severe weather shelter plans in order to be prepared for such an emergency.
The State’s second drill is at 6:55 p.m. for counties that choose to participate -- Washington County is participating -- and is held to allow families and second shift workers to also practice their plans.
