Boys golf: Raptors, Wolfpack tee it up at River Oaks Invitational

The East Ridge and Park boys golf teams competed in a large invitational at River Oaks Golf Course in Cottage Grove on Tuesday and defended their hometown course well.
Park finished tied for eighth place with a 329 and East Ridge shot a 335 to take 10th place at the 19-team tournament.
Leading the way for Park was sophomore Patrick McCarthy, who carded a 79, followed by senior Nick Cekalla, who shot an 80. McCarthy’s score was one of the few sub-80 rounds of the day. In addition, senior Jeff Martin shot an 84 and sophomore Cole LeMay shot an 86 to round out the Wolfpack’s top four.
For East Ridge, junior Travis Dorf led the way with an 80, followed by junior Brady Hanson who scored an 82. Sophomore Jack Caron (86) and junior Thomas Tuohy (87) rounded out the Raptors’ top four.
Shattuck-St. Mary’s won the match with a 318. Shattuck’s Jake Curwin and Mounds View’s Kyle Ringhofer shared medalist honors with matching 76 scores.
Park and East Ridge traveled to the Wisconsin Dells over the weekend, then Park took part in an invitational at Tartan on Monday and each team had its first conference match on Tuesday, after the Bulletin went to press. Next, the Wolfpack competes in an invitational at Dellwood Hills Golf Club on Monday, April 23, while East Ridge heads north to play at The Pines and The Preserve at Grand View Lodge in Peqout Lakes.
