Cottage Grove police reports for April 5
Recent police calls involved property damage, theft, stalking, vandalism and assault.
Property damage
A Cottage Grove resident reported March 22 that a window was smashed on a vehicle parked in the 7900 block of 72nd Street. Damage: $350.
A Cottage Grove resident reported March 22 that two windows were broken on a home in the 8100 block of 71st Street. Damage: $903.
A Cottage Grove resident reported March 22 that a large rock was thrown at a vehicle parked in the 7600 block of Ideal Avenue, damaging the windshield, hood and fender. Loss: $1,500.
Theft
A Cottage Grove resident reported March 22 that a bicycle was stolen from outside Pine Hill Elementary School. No loss estimate.
A Cottage Grove man reported March 25 that he heard a suspicious noise in his home but did not find anything unusual. Later, however, the man discovered that $65 was missing from his wallet. There was no sign of forced entry to the home in the 7100 block of Timber Crest Drive.
Holiday gas station, 6921 Pine Arbor Drive, reported March 28 that car wash codes had been stolen. Case is under investigation.
A Cottage Grove resident reported March 28 that a license plate was stolen from a vehicle parked in the 8200 block of Jasmine Avenue. The theft occurred sometime in the previous week.
Burglary
A Cottage Grove resident reported March 24 that a bicycle was stolen from the garage of a home in the 7400 block of Jocelyn Avenue. Loss: $2,100.
Vandalism
A Cottage Grove man reported March 24 that his front yard in the 8300 block of Foothill Road was vandalized with toilet paper. No damage.
Assault
A Cottage Grove woman was jailed for assault after she initially called police to report a theft. Police were dispatched March 22 to a home in the 8500 block of Ideal Avenue for a reported theft. Kristeen Bradsteen, 18, of Cottage Grove, had reported that a phone was stolen. After further police investigation, Bradsteen was arrested on suspicion of fifth-degree assault for allegedly swinging a bat at a 40-year-old man at the home.
Disorderly conduct
A 13-year-old Cottage Grove boy was referred to the Youth Service Bureau for disorderly conduct after a March 23 altercation at Cottage Grove Elementary School, 9775 Indian Blvd.
Stalking
A Cottage Grove woman reported March 24 that she had received unusual phone calls and then saw a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot near her home in the 7700 block of Hinton Avenue. The vehicle could not be located.
Fire
Police were called to Kingston Park, 9195 75th St., around 7:20 p.m. March 24 on a report of a portable toilet on fire. Police and firefighters extinguished the fire.
Police were called March 28 to a home in the 8400 block of Greystone Avenue after a small propane tank started on fire. The homeowner was extinguishing the fire when firefighters arrived.
Underage drinking
A 19-year-old Cottage Grove woman was ticketed for underage drinking March 25 after police were called to a home in the 9900 block of Military Road for a possible underage drinking party. Everyone at the party was at least 21 years old, except for the woman who was cited.
