Cottage Grove police reports
Recent police activity includes theft, property damage, burglary, drugs and fire calls.
Theft
Police were called March 16 to the 7700 block of 60th Street, where a generator was reported stolen from a construction trailer. Loss: $900. Damage: $400.
A Cottage Grove resident reported that a camera and some alcohol were stolen from a residence in the 8500 block of Hillside Trail.
A Cottage Grove woman reported March 18 that a Christmas deer statue was stolen from her yard in the 8500 block of Imperial Avenue. Loss: $200.
A Cottage Grove resident reported March 18 that CDs and a GPS device were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 9100 block of Hillside Trail.
A St. Paul man reported March 18 that a cellphone was stolen while he was at Cottage Grove Middle School.
A Cottage Grove resident reported that a phone charger was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 7800 block of 74th Street.
Property damage
A Cottage Grove resident reported March 16 that four tires were flattened, a back window was smashed and a window frame was bent on a vehicle parked in the 7100 block of Imperial Avenue. Damage: $1,000.
A Cottage Grove woman reported that two tires were flattened on a vehicle parked in the 8100 block of East Point Douglas Road. Damage: $250.
A Cottage Grove man reported March 18 there was damage to a vehicle parked in the 8800 block of Ironwood Avenue. Police contacted another driver. The two people exchanged information.
A Cottage Grove resident reported March 18 that a vehicle was scratched while parked in the 7500 block of 79th Street. Damage: $750.
A Cottage Grove woman reported March 18 that a fence was damaged in the 9000 block of Janie Avenue. No damage estimate listed.
A Cottage Grove resident reported March 22 that a front window was smashed on a vehicle parked in the 7900 block of 72nd Street.
Break-in
A Cottage Grove resident reported March 16 that an iPod device and perfume were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 9100 block of Jarvis Avenue. Loss: $680.
Fire
Four 11-year-old St. Paul Park boys were referred to Youth Service Bureau in connection with a large brush fire at Hamlet Park. Police were called to the park March 18 after someone reported seeing juveniles playing with flares. One boy threw a flare, causing the fire. No damage reported.
Police and fire crews were investigating a fire at a home at 9233 Hale Avenue around 5:40 p.m. March 21. No injuries were reported.
Vandalism
A caller told police March 16 that soup was dumped on a vehicle parked in the 6900 block of Homestead Avenue. No damage.
A manager at McDonald’s, 7355 East Point Douglas Road, reported March 16 that someone spelled out obscenities in Post-It notes on a vehicle in the parking lot. The driver said his friend did it as a joke.
Domestic
A 19-year-old Cottage Grove man was ticketed for property damage and disorderly conduct after police were called March 17 to a home in the 7000 block of Homestead Avenue for a reported domestic. Dontaye S. English allegedly punched a hole in the wall of the residence and yelled obscenities after being told to be quiet. English was booked at Washington County jail.
Suspicious activity
A Cottage Grove woman in the 7800 block of 74th Street reported March 16 that she heard a suspicious noise in the house. Nothing found.
Shoplifting
Rainbow Foods, 7282 East Point Douglas Road, reported March 16 there were two shoplifters at the store. A 17-year-old Cottage Grove male was issued a juvenile citation for shoplifting.
Kohls, 7990 Hardwood Ave., reported March 21 that a 16-year-old St. Paul girl stole clothing valued at $348. She was issued a juvenile citation for theft.
Burglary
Police were called March 21 to a home in the 9700 block of Hamlet Avenue after the homeowner reported that someone entered an open garage and stole a stereo. Loss: $500.
Drugs
A 19-year-old St. Paul Park woman was cited for speeding and possessing marijuana pipes following a March 21 traffic stop at Hillside Trail and Innsdale Avenue. The woman was pulled over for speeding.
