New Cottage Grove motto: 'Where pride and prosperity meet'
The new motto and a revamped logo is part of an effort to build awareness of the city both inside and out of the community.
Officials in Cottage Grove rolled out the city’s new motto and a revamped logo this week in an effort, the city’s economic development director said, to build awareness of the city both inside and out of the community.
“Where pride and prosperity meet,” is Cottage Grove’s new tagline, one that City Council members said they favored at a February planning workshop. It is the city’s first motto, officials say, and its unveiling followed months of brainstorming and public input aimed at giving the city another marketing tool.
“We clearly have a lot of pride in the community and a lot of people prospering in a lot of different ways,” said Danette Parr, Cottage Grove’s economic development director, who introduced the motto and tweaked city logo at a meeting Wednesday.
A tweaked city logo preserves the familiar interlocking, green and blue ‘CG’ but adds the new slogan and a city word mark, as well as simple, green and blue images that Parr said are meant to evoke the Mississippi River, the city’s trails and homes and businesses.
“It’s very evocative of the Cottage Grove I love and know and grew up in,” said City Council member Justin Olsen.
