Cottage Grove 'car bar' gets go-ahead for expansion
Council members voted to allow American Motorsports Bar and Grill to follow through on plans to take over nearly 2,400 square feet of empty retail space next door.
The Cottage Grove City Council approved a popular bar and restaurant’s plans to expand.
Council members voted 4-0 March 7 to allow American Motorsports Bar and Grill, located at 7240 East Point Douglas Road, to follow through on plans to take over nearly 2,400 square feet of empty retail space next door. It will tear down an inside wall to enlarge the bar area, expand the restaurant’s banquet facilities and bathrooms and add a fenced-in, sheltered outdoor smoking patio on the rear of the building.
Tom “Shorty” Shannon, who owns and operates the restaurant with his wife, Cheri, said he plans to complete the expansion this spring.
