Newport police reports
Recent police activity includes theft and domestic calls.
Theft
A Newport man reported Feb. 22 that someone had tried to steal a truck that was parked at St. Paul Tire, 1846 Fourth Ave. The entire steering column was damaged. The damage was estimated at a couple thousand dollars. No suspects.
A Newport woman reported Feb. 23 that her boyfriend stole her videogame system from her home in the 1400 block of Hastings Avenue and was trying to leave on a city bus.
Super America, 1624 Hastings Ave., reported a $60 gas drive-off Feb. 25. Less than an hour later, the gas station reported another gas drive-off valued at $114.

Domestic
Police were called Feb. 25 to a residence in the 800 block of Glenn Terrace Road on a report of a domestic. When an officer arrived, a woman refused to open the door and then shut off the lights. Police determined she had felony warrants out, so approached the house again. They reported seeing the woman peek out of a second-floor window, but nobody answered the door when police knocked. A man then arrived at the home and told the woman to meet police. Subsequently, Deann L. Green, 26, was arrested for six felony warrants for auto theft.
