Woodbury assistant becomes Park High School's boys golf head coach
Chad Salay will take over after longtime coach Hank Tressel retired.
Chad Salay, who has been an assistant golf coach at Woodbury, was named the new Park High School boys golf coach.
Salay will take over for longtime coach Hank Tressel, who retired after 50 years of high school coaching in Minnesota.
Salay was assistant varsity coach for two years at Woodbury, and he's been a golf instructor, said Phil Kuemmel, Park activities director.
The Park boys golf team won the Class AAA state championship in 2008 -- the school's only state title in a boys sports. Tressel sent numerous teams and players to the state tournament.
"Hank has spent 51 years in education and I appreciate all that he did for Park athletics. I wish him well in retirement," Kuemmel said in a statement Tuesday. "While Chad has big shoes to fill, I am confident in his ability to continue the strong tradition of our boys golf program.”
