Cottage Grove, Denmark Township expand inspection agreement

Cottage Grove will provide electrical inspection services and perform code compliance inspections in Denmark Township under an expanded cooperative agreement approved by the Cottage Grove City Council last week.

The city already provides building inspection services to the rural, neighboring township. Under an amended agreement that takes effect next month, Cottage Grove’s contracted electrical inspector will also provide that service in Denmark Township and city building officials will inspect agricultural buildings to ensure they meet township code.

Cottage Grove will reap 25 percent of the fee paid to the city’s electrical inspector for inspections and permits and will collect a $75 fee per certificate of compliance issued.

The neighboring south Washington County municipalities struck an agreement for building inspection services in 2010. Cottage Grove also performs inspections and issues building permits for the cities of Newport and St. Paul Park.
