Park girls basketball: Wolfpack dominates Stillwater, Hastings

The Park girls basketball team earned a pair of lopsided Suburban East Conference wins over Stillwater and Hastings on the road last week to improve to 16-5 overall.

The Park girls basketball team earned a pair of lopsided Suburban East Conference wins over Stillwater and Hastings on the road last week to improve to 16-5 overall.

In its first game last week, Park (16-5; 11-2 SEC) opened up a 28-16 lead over Stillwater then cruised to the win. Park held the Ponies (9-11; 6-7 SEC) to 14 second-half points. Park junior point guard Larissa Lurken led the way in the victory with 15 points. Sophomore guard Sydney Lamberty scored 14 points.

In the win over Hastings, Park outscored the Raiders 36-25 in the first half and 35-16 in the second half. Eleven different players scored for the Wolfpack in the win over the Raiders (2-18; 0-13 SEC). Lamberty had a game-high 21 points in the victory. Lurken added 11 points and senior center Jenna Joswiak chipped in 10 points. Additionally, the twin-sister combo of freshmen Annie and Carlie Williams totaled 10 points.

On the year, Lamberty leads the team in scoring at 19.4 points per game followed by Lurken at 16.5 points per game and Joswiak at 6.0 points per game. Senior Rachel Kothe is fourth at 5.8 points per game.

Next, Park plays host to Forest Lake (11-10; 6-7 SEC) on Friday, Feb. 10, in its lone game of the week.
