Rinzel to coach first Park High School boys lacrosse team

Greg Rinzel, who helped launch the program in Cottage Grove, will serve as coach.

Park High School has hired its first boys lacrosse coach in school history.

Park announced that Greg Rinzel, who helped launch the program in Cottage Grove, will serve as coach.

This spring Park will field its own boys team. For the past two years it was part of a cooperative team with East Ridge High School. (Before that, it was joined with Woodbury High School for two years.)

Park Activities Director Phil Kuemmel said Rinzel played lacrosse in college and coached at the youth, prep and high school level for four years.

“We are very excited to have our own boys lacrosse team at Park for the first time,” Kuemmel said. “Greg has helped build this program from the ground up, and it is a very natural fit for him to take the program to the next level. We have a lot of boys lacrosse players who are very excited to finally get a chance to wear a green Park jersey.”

Rinzel’s name may be familiar to the Cottage Grove community from his other job. He serves as captain of the Cottage Grove Police Department.
