East Ridge junior Leah Robinette medaled twice in the Class AA individual state meet on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at the University of Minnesota Sports Pavilion.
In her first Class AA state appearance, Robinette took fourth place in the vault with a 9.725 and fourth place on the bars with a 9.650. The scores were the best Robinette has earned in the events in high school competition and were also East Ridge High School records.
Robinette also scored a 9.125 on the beam and a 9.050 in the floor exercise and finished in 11th place overall in the all-around competition with a 37.525 score. Rogers senior Sabrina Hoover won the Class AA state all-around title with a 38.425. It was Hoover’s third-straight all-around championship.
Robinette qualified for the state meet, individually, in every event but the floor exercise. At the Section 3AA meet, Robinette scored a 37.7 in the all-around to take fourth place, and took first place in the vault (9.675), tied for third place in the bars (9.450) and was fourth place on the beam (9.250).
Out of sections, the winning team and the top four individual finishers in each event qualify for the state meet. East Ridge took fourth place as a team at the section meet with a 141.150 score — a season high and only 0.5 off the previous year’s school record.
